Brett Isis

Founder & President

Brett is an entrepreneur originally from Colorado. He brings with him many years of professional experience in different fields including both human resources & recruiting. He handles much of the day-to-day operations and business development at Teaching Nomad. Brett also lived in Shanghai for five years before opening TN's Denver office in 2016.

Sophia Isis

Vice President, Business Development & Placements

Sophia was born and raised in Austin, Texas. She earned a BA in Biology from the University of Texas. She has 5 years' teaching experience and has traveled to over 20 different countries. Her love of teaching and travel make her excited to be able to share the opportunity with others through Teaching Nomad.                                                            

Ginger de Ridder

Director, Teacher Link

Ginger is a Dutchman who has been working in China since 2012. He has lived in different countries including the US, Italy, and Lesotho and trained both foreign as well as local teachers. Now he heads Teacher Link and loves  helping teachers develop their teaching skills so that they can start their teaching journey abroad.                                                           

Oliver Gorman

Director of Recruitment, Shanghai

Oliver was born near Manchester, England and has a 1st class degree in International Business and Chinese with a distinction in spoken Chinese. He has lived full time in Shanghai since 2013 and previously spent time living in Paris, as he really enjoys traveling to new places and experiencing different cultures. Oliver’s interests include football (Manchester United), MMA, golf, podcasts, and astronomy.

Brendan Allen

Recruitment Team Leader, Denver

Brendan grew up in Colorado, and he has traveled to 11 other countries. He has a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Design from CU Boulder, and his other passions include travel, golf, and coaching sports. In his final year of school, Brendan began working for the CU Boulder study abroad office and found his passion for international education, which eventually brought him to Teaching Nomad.


Brenna Lee

Digital Marketing & Authentication

Brenna was born and raised in Colorado. She received her Bachelor's degree from the University of Northern Colorado in Marketing. She's interested in design, front-end web development, advertising, and content creation. She also loves traveling, camping, hiking, and snowboarding. Her respect for teachers and passion for travel are what brought her to Teaching Nomad.                                                         

Jayne Donabie

Associate Placement Consultant

Jayne is from a town just outside London, England. She has an undergraduate degree in law and recently completed a masters in criminal law and security. Her love for people and passion for helping others has drawn her to a career in recruitment which is why she joined Teaching Nomad. Jayne loves to travel and has spent a lot of time visiting Hong Kong and China. She enjoys charity work, learning Chinese and yoga.

June A. Chang

Placement Consultant

June was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. She studied Business Administration and Marketing at the University of Richmond in Virginia before moving to Shanghai. Prior to Teaching Nomad, June has worked in marketing at an educational services company and tech startup. Her interests include watching all the Dallas sports teams, keeping up with GOT and the fan theories, and going to museums.

Michael T. Ostrowski

Associate Placement Consultant

Mike was born in Chicago, and will stop at nothing to tell you that Chicago-style pizza is the best pizza in the world. With a background in marketing, as well as experience teaching in China, Mike was inspired to begin recruiting, so that he can help other teachers find their dream job. In his spare time, Mike likes to listen to and play music, study Chinese, play various sports, and religiously watch the Chicago Cubs.

Sean Murtagh

Teacher Link Course Advisor

Sean is from Toledo, Ohio and attended the University of Colorado. He has spent time living and working in South Korea, Vietnam and Colombia. He completed his CELTA training course before returning to Colorado and teaching at C.U. – Denver. Sean is passionate about travel, foreign languages, and the expat teaching community. In his free time, Sean loves to play guitar and explore the outdoors.  

Lauren Klein

Placement Consultant

Lauren is from Kansas City, Kansas. She has her Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education and English from Kansas State University. Before working at Teaching Nomad, she taught abroad in Taipei, Taiwan for a year. She had a wonderful experience abroad and hopes to help others have that same experience she did. Lauren enjoys reading, hiking, yoga and making homemade kombucha.

Yiqin Zhu

Associate Placement Consultant

Yiqin was born in Shanghai. She studied Management Accounting at the University of Melbourne and lived in Australia for 4 years. With previous experience as an IELTS teacher, she was inspired to begin recruiting so that she can help teachers to have amazing experience abroad as well. In her free time, Yiqin enjoys working out, learning languages and going to galleries.

Helen Armstrong

Placement Consultant

Helen was born and raised near Philadelphia. She received her Bachelors degree in Communications and Creative Writing, and moved to the Denver area shortly after. While in college, she found a love for travel, completing two semesters abroad and several other trips overseas. She loves reading, writing, yoga, and traveling. 

Darrah O'Flaherty

Associate Placement Consultant

Darrah grew up in Colorado, and studied Management, Economics, and Leadership at Elon University in North Carolina. After graduating she moved to rural Thailand to teach where she spent the subsequent year and a half - her resulting passion for International Education led her to Teaching Nomad! In Darrah's free time she loves to snowboard, play rugby, read, and spend time outdoors.  

Madison Van Doren

Associate Placement Consultant

Before joining Teaching Nomad, Madison was a nomad herself growing up between Colorado, Boston, and London. She is a proud alumna of Colorado State University and NSLI-y Korea 2014 with a BA in English Language and Linguistics. She is published in The Language of Localization. Her free time is spent hunting for more coffee, spoiling her rescue pup, and reminiscing about the hotteok she ate in Seoul.  
Nikhil Patel

Nikhil Patel

TEFL Trainer

Nik has been living and teaching in China since 2010. In that time, he's had the opportunity to teach adults, as well as secondary and primary school. Whilst doing so, he had the privilege of being welcomed into family homes, became part of a school's team of teachers, and took part in much more than just teaching English. He can't think of another serious profession that so regularly delivers so many giggles.  

Chloe Wang

TEFL Student Relations Specialist

Chloe is a Chinese native who was born in Shanghai and graduated from Shanghai Normal University. She was a teacher manager in a public university and a training school for 4 years. Before she came to Teaching Nomad, she was an administrative supervisor for a financial company. Now she is pursuing a masters degree at Shanghai Jiaotong University. In her spare time she enjoys traveling and watching TV. 

Olivia Ghisoni

TEFL Trainer

Olivia was born in France and educated in the UK. She holds a master’s degree in Field Linguistics from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Olivia has a passion for languages and education and moved to China in 2015 to teach at Soochow University. She has five years of experience in teaching and two in curriculum design. Olivia is also a dedicated triathlete and loves discovering new places. 

Tiffany Xiao

Associate Placement Consultant

Tiffany is a Chinese native who was born in Hunan and graduated from Missouri State University (China Campus). She loves travel and has volunteered in several countries as an English teacher, including Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka. Before she came to Teaching Nomad, she was a recruiter for public schools in Shenzhen, China. She is responsible at work, passionate about life, and always tries to find the best fit for her candidates. 

Jessica Tang

HR & Administration

Jessica is a Chinese native who was born in Shanghai and obtained her Bachelor's degree from the Shanghai Institute of Technology. She majored in English and International Trade. Before she joined Teaching Nomad, she worked as an immigration consultant at a global relocation company. She has a lot of experience with Chinese immigration laws and has helped lots of foreigners with applying for their work permits and residence permits. She loves traveling and shopping in her spare time.
